Lite-Up Texas was a program created by the Texas State Legislature in 1999 and administered by the Public Utility Commission of Texas. It served about 700,000 low income families by providing subsidies for their electric bills. The 2015 Texas Legislature discontinued the program, and it officially ended August 31, 2016. But all is not lost.
If your’s is a family that received these subsidies or you know of someone who did, sadly, the funds are no longer available. The subsidies were usually around 25 – 30%, so expect your electric bill to increase.
Does that mean you are stuck paying a higher bill? You don’t have to. SK Energy can help you, just as we have helped hundreds of others.
Our customers see savings of 30%, 40%, sometimes as much as 60%. We shop all of the electricity providers to find the right one for your family. We look for short term contracts, which always offer the best rates.
